Description
This site lies within the Sebangau–Katingan Peat Hydrological Unit, an area of critical importance for ecological connectivity and ecosystem protection. Through sustainable peatland management, the initiative aims to generate long-term benefits for both local communities and the wildlife that depend on this landscape. A demonstration restoration plot will be established to showcase practical implementation using an agroforestry model. The planting design will combine native peatland species, orangutan food trees, and economically valuable and non-timber forest product (NTFP) species, creating a landscape that supports both biodiversity conservation and community livelihoods.
